Moving On.

Set in the writer’s fictional world of Dog Sled Racing.

This is a deeper look inside the book than the official blurb.

Ally’s world has been knocked sideways by the death of her father and her failed marriage. For this romantic Irishwoman, being a divorcee is not a trophy. Ally wishes to move on with her life. Ally is a realist and does not dream of being rescued by a man. She loves her busy, unconventional life even if she struggles to renovate the family home. If asked how she manages, Ally would smile and say, “I get by, and I don’t need more stuff in my life, but a few more people would help.

Along with inheriting the family home and her father’s five dogs, Ally inherited his love for sled racing—four of which were part of his racing team. Ally returns to the sport, and her love of dog sled racing becomes her focus. It is a small competitive sport in Ireland where the lack of snow means the teams race on rough tracks. Competing in a male-dominated sport, Ally is not deterred by racing with so many competitors who believe she should not be racing with them. By racing, Ally believes she is giving herself and her dogs a purpose.

When Ally meets Tom Lynch at an event, she decides he is everything Ally should avoid. He is handsome and charming, a businessman who has returned home. Rumour has it that he has a different woman beside him each day of the week. Tom appears to be like other men, and he expects to win. But unlike other men Ally has met, Tom is not put off by her insistence that she does not need a relationship, and his kindness gradually becomes clear to her.

Tom is curious about this petite, strong woman who confidently handles her dog team. Her knowledge far exceeds his. Tom asks Ally for her help with improving his dog-handling skills as they get to know each other better. He is surprised that she seems indifferent to his charm, which creates a challenge.

Ally is confident in one thing: love is not for her.

As Tom gets to know Ally and those around her, he quickly learns that Ally is everything Tom has been searching for.
