Irish sayings that make us smile.

I created a blog page on this children’s book page to encourage me to continue writing. I should have stated from the beginning that I am Irish. I was born and bred in Ireland. This might explain why some people are curious about some of the sayings I, and other Irish people have.

For example; She, or he is as thick as a brick. The tactful explanation is that she or he is not blessed with common sense or intelligence.

No bother – This covers a multitude. I will do as you say or suggest. – No way am I going to do that but I am saying yes, hoping they forget they asked me.

You have as much chance with him as a snowball in hell. That will never happen. Dream on.

The walls have ears. Those around us are nosy or gossipers.

The older the fiddle, the better the tune. Usually said about a relationship, improves with age.
